First few days in Norway

The best new is that we got our luggage late last night(Thursday)!!!!! Very exciting:)

On Wednesday night when we arrived, we went for a car ride which was quite an experience. The roads are much different here. They are very narrow and the drivers here are much crazier! They have no stop signs and lots and lots of yield signs! We went to the statue of libery...which was pretty exciting to me even though it wasn't much bigger than me. The most interesting part about this Statue of Liberty is that the copper used in the Statue of Liberty in New York came from Norway!

On Thursday (December, 30) I went for breakfast at Solveig's(girl on the left) house. Breakfast was very different. We had homemade bread with meat, cheese, jelly, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and eggs. It was pretty much like a sandwich but for breakfast. The picture below is all the food we had for breakfast. They call them tebriks!
Anna (the girl on the right) is the one whose house we are staying at.

At night on Thursday we went to Astrid's house (closest girl on the left)
for supper....her parents made us homemade pizza:) Then two hours
later we had tebriks again! They are treating us way too good here!

Norwegian Food:

Milk, Orange Juice and Apple Juice                                           Christmas Cookies:)
Not sure exactly what the two on the left are,
but they used them on their tebriks. The
one on the left is chocolate and was very good!

The top 2 containers are liver...yes actual LIVER of a cow. I
didn't try it here but some of them made us try it in the U.S.
and everyone told me it was disgusting so I didn't dare try it.
The bottom is brown cheese which is not eaten like regular cheese.
They put it on their tebriks with jelly or eat it plain. We tried to put
it on our tebriks with meat and veggies and they laughed at us!

Scenery

North Atlantic Ocean...absolutely beautiful! This picture does not do it justice.

The bridge connecting the island we are staying on and Haugesund, Norway. (We are actually staying in a little town on the island called Akron)

Many of the houses are up on hills in kind of their own little village, not on roads like our are.
The houses are also different than what we have. A lot of them are more square in shape and
have flat roofs. They also do not have any ranch style houses. Most of them have a basement, main floor
and upstairs.
Tonight (Friday, December 31) they will be making us their famous food f that they always make on New Years Eve. We plan on just hanging out here and eating lots of food!
